INCLUSION BODY MYOSITIS-IBV

Inclusion Body Myositis-IBM (Inflammatory Myopathy) The most common inflammatory muscle disease in people over the age of 50.  It is an inflammatory muscle disease, characterized by slowly progressive weakness and wasting of both distal and proximal muscles, most apparent in the muscles of the arms and legs.

There is no standard course of treatment or known cure for IBM.  Strengthening the muscles and immune system is highly suggested, so Vibration Therapy may be an excellent form of exercise for IBM sufferers.  There seems to be no restriction for exercise and in many cases is encouraged.

1.Recent studies suggest that physical exercise could result in functional benefits to patients with Inclusion Body Myositis (Vitor de Salles Painelli-School of Physical Education and Sport, University of São Paulo, Brazil)

2.Study on the effect of a home exercise program on inclusion body myositis concluded that there were no signs of increased muscle inflammation and none of the patients deteriorated concerning muscle function.  (Department of Clinical Neuroscience Division of Neurology, Karolinska Hospital, SE-171 76 Stockholm, Sweden)

3.Physical therapy may be helpful in maintaining mobility with inclusion body myositis. (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD 20892

4.Improvement in aerobic capacity after an exercise program in sporadic inclusion body myositis.  (Centre for Neuromuscular and Neurological Disorders, University of Western Australia, Perth, Western Australia)

These findings indicate that aerobic and functional muscle strengthening exercise should be considered in the management of patients with IBM.  Whole Body Vibration is a low impact workout that has helped thousands of people with many health issues.  Consult your health care provider before attempting any type of exercise.

It’s important to know that there are two types of Vibration technologies available; Linear and Oscillating.  They are both Vibration machines but the difference is how the vibration is ‘delivered’ to the body.  T-Zone Health uses Oscillating Technology which is the technology that is most popular with Chiropractors, Physiotherapists and rehab institutions.  If your Health Care Provider would like more information on WBV, please have them us at the address below.

**Note – this research is available in the public domain.  Various models and machines on the market have been used for the purpose of conducting research.  We believe that T-Zone Technology Vibration falls within the main stream of general research performed using WBV but make no specific guarantees.
