Hiatus Hernia & Vibration Therapy
Hiatus Hernia: A hernia in which part of the stomach protrudes through the esophageal opening of the diaphragm. Also called hiatal hernia. The condition occurs in about 40% of the population, most people suffering no ill-effects; in a small number of people there is reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus, causing heartburn. Hiatal hernias are not like other kinds of hernias (inguinal or groin hernias), in which a displaced part of the intestine can be choked off, causing severe compilations.
-Weight loss and exercise helps control your symptoms and relieves your discomfort
-Try eating smaller meals throughout the day
-Exercise has no effect on hiatal hernias. Exercise may increase intra-abdominal pressure and may force stomach acid back into the esophagus through a weak lower esophageal sphincter. JAY W. MARKS, MD
-There is an effective form of therapy for Hiatus Hernias which involve stretching and vibration called Proprioceptor Integration Skin Sensors. The actual technique is to pull, stretch and vibrate the skin in certain ways. The skin has proprioceptors just like muscles do, and the Hiatal Hernia Syndrome sufferer's skin proprioceptors have likely been in a bad state for many years. WBV could be an effective form of vibrating and stretching that helps promotes healing and pain relief.
-It has been suggested to detox toxins from the body to help this condition. WBV helps to stimulate the lymphatic system that may help this process.
Conclusion:
Although there doesn't seem to be any studies with Vibration Therapy and Hiatus Hernias...WBV (Whole Body Vibration) may be an effective treatment for Hiatus Hernias, as it is a low impact workout that has helped thousands of people with many health issues. Consult your health care provider for approval.
It's important to know that there are two types of Vibration technologies available; Linear/Lineal and Oscillating/Pivotal. They are both Vibration machines but the difference is how the vibration is 'delivered' to the body. T-Zone Health uses Oscillating Technology which is the technology that is most popular with Chiropractors, Physiotherapists and rehab institutions. It is not recommended that Linear Vibration be used with people that have had major surgeries, other health issues, or older and younger users. You have selected the correct Vibration Company and the safest technology. We always suggest that you get advice from a Health Care Provider before trying any forms of exercise including WBV (whole body vibration). If your Health Care Provider would like more information on WBV or Clinical Studies, please have them contact T-Zone Health.
We always suggest trying the machine for a few free trial sessions at our studios. Try slower speeds at first and listen to your body. If you feel any sharp pains, discomfort or feel light headed, please stop using the machine.
