Diverticulitis & Vibration Therapy

We were unable to find any direct studies with Diverticulitis & Vibration, but here is some info:

Definition:

Diverticular Disease is the name given to small pouches (sacs) known as diverticula, that protrude outwards from the wall of the large intestine. Each diverticulum consists of a small part of the inner lining of the intestine that has been forced through the muscular layer of the intestine forming a small hernia. Symptoms include cramps, back pain, constipation or abdominal tenderness.

The Western diet, which tends to be low in dietary fibre and high in refined carbohydrates, is also believed to be a contributing factor. DD can be caused by other dietary factors other than fibre. There is an idea that suggests that increased red meat and fat consumption could cause DD. Studies have shown that people eating more red meat were more likely to develop DD.

Make sure you hydrate before any vibration therapy. Most people do not drink nearly enough water.  Because your colon loves water, it will have a softening effect on fecal matter.

Whole Body Vibration Platform moves so much lymph, contracts muscle, and aids in digestion, this should help relieve congestion and help regulate things.

The treatment for diverticulitis that is normally recommended however is rest and a course of antibiotics. Doctors may also recommend avoiding solid food and following a liquid diet.

If rest is suggested by doctors, Vibration Therapy may not be the best decision for acute or serious diverticulitis. The infection may lead to a number of complications if not treated:

1.  abscess - a tender lump in the abdomen area and you have a fever.

2.  phlegmon- may be felt as a painful lump in the abdomen that could lead to vomiting.

3.  fistula- may develop from any part of the inflamed colon

4.  bowel obstruction- When faeces becomes blocked, static faeces may encourage the overgrowth of bacteria, which can lead to an infection

5.  perforation of bowel wall- If peritonitis does occur, an emergency operation will be required

6.  haemorrhage- a loss of blood from the back passage

Doctors suggest exercise daily:

“Diverticulitis is extremely common,” says James Stinneford, M.D., a gastroenterologist at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
“Fortunately, in most cases, it’s readily taken care of by changing diet and exercise habits.”
People with diverticulitis should exercise daily, beginning with walking, bicycling, or swimming References: National Digestive Diseases Information Clearing House St. Luke's Texas Liver Institute

WBV (Whole Body Vibration) can be an excellent treatment for Diverticulitis, as it is a low impact workout that has helped thousands of people with digestive and congestion issues. Consult your health care provider.

It's important to know that there are two types of Vibration technologies available; Linear/Lineal and Oscillating/Pivitol. They are both Vibration machines but the difference is how the vibration is 'delivered' to the body. T-Zone Health uses Oscillating Technology which is the technology that is most popular with Chiropractors, Physiotherapists and rehab institutions. It is not recommended that Linear Vibration be used with people that have had major surgeries, other health issues, or older and younger users. You have selected the correct Vibration Company and the safest technology. We always suggest that you get advice from a Health Care Provider before trying any forms of exercise including WBV (whole body vibration). If your Health Care Provider would like more information on WBV or Clinical Studies, please have them contact T-Zone Health.

We always suggest trying the machine for a few free trial sessions at our Vibration Studio

**Note – this research is available in the public domain. Various models and machines on the market have been used for the purpose of conducting research. We believe that T-Zone Technology Vibration falls within the main stream of general research performed using WBV but make no specific guarantees.
